[엑스포츠뉴스=한인구 기자] '안녕하세요." 레드벨벳은 미소를 한가득 품은 채 첫인사를 건넸다. 데뷔 싱글 '행복(Happiness)'처럼 기분 좋은 느낌이 은은히 전해졌다. 아이린(배주현·23) 슬기(강슬기·20) 웬디(손승완·20) 조이(박수영·18)가 모인 레드벨벳과 이야기를 나눴다. 
[x-sports news=Han In Goo reporter] 'Hello.' Red velvet greeted with smiles. They delivered good feelings just like their debut single 'Happiness'. We talked with the members of Red Velvet, Irene (Bae Joo Hyun.23), Seulgi (Kang Seul Gi.20), Wendy (Son Seung Wan.20), Joy (Park Soo Young.18) .




레드벨벳은 올 8월 데뷔해 한 달 동안 활동하며 '해피 바이러스'를 전파했다. 음악 프로그램 첫 출연부터 정신없이 '레드벨벳'을 알렸다. 이제야 조금 숨을 돌리는 듯했다. "영화 보고 쇼핑하면서 그동안 못한 것들을 몰아서 하고 있어요."(조이) "요즘은 가끔 쉬기도 하죠."(슬기) 그래도 레드벨벳은 여전히 바쁘다. 아직 보여줘야 할 것이 많은 신인이기에 다음 활동을 차근히 준비하고 있다. 
Red Velvet debuted this year in August, while promoting for one month, they have spread 'happy virus'. They've been promoting 'Red Velvet' busily since the first time they made an appearance on music program. "While watching movies and shopping, I'm doing the things I couldn't do." (Joy) "These days we rest sometimes." (Seulgi) Even so, Red Velvet is still pretty. They are rookies who still have much to show, they are steadily preparing for their next promotion.

레드벨벳은 에프엑스 이후 SM이 5년 만에 선보이는 걸그룹이다. 음악 프로그램 첫 무대부터 주목받았다. "음악 방송할 때마다 팬들이 늘었어요. 사랑받고 있다는 생각이 들어요."(웬디) 하지만 모든 이들이 그렇듯이 레드벨벳을 향해 좋은 시선만 있진 않았다. "저희를 어떻게 보실까 생각이 들어 반응에 신경 쓰였죠. 그래도 첫 무대부터 많이 환호해주셔서 걱정이 싹 사라졌어요."(조이) 
Red Velvet is a group SM has put out in 5 years after f(x). They have garnered attention ever since their first stage on music program. "Every time we perform on stage, we gain more fans. I feel that we are gaining love." (Wendy) However, not everyone looks favourably upon Red Velvet. "Wondering how people will look at us, I pay attention to the responses. Even so, many are supporting us ever since our first stage so the concerns disappeared." (Joy)

티저 영상과 사진으로 레드벨벳은 대중과 처음 만났다. 긴 머리카락 끝 부분에 염색한 헤어스타일이 시선을 끌었다. 농담처럼 레드벨벳 멤버를 구분하려면 머리카락 색깔을 봐야한다는 말도 심심치 않게 들렸다. "데뷔 전에도 '자매 아니냐'는 소리를 듣기도 해서 그런 반응도 괜찮았어요."(슬기) 그래서인지 무대 밖에서 머리카락을 숨기고 다니면 알아보는 사람이 많이 없다고 했다. 
Red Velvet met the public for the first time through teaser videos and photos. They captured attention through their long and dyed-tip hairstyle. It's common to hear that in order to differentiate the member, one has to look at their hair colour. "Even before our debut, we've heard things like 'are you sisters', so we're fine with those kind of responses." (Seulgi) Maybe that is the reason why they say that when they hide their hair when offstage, not many people recognised them. 

지난달 15일 레드벨벳은 SM 선배가수와 'SM타운 라이브 월드투어 콘서트'에 올랐다. 이날 레드벨벳은 '행복' 무대는 물론 데뷔를 앞둔 SM루키즈도 열심히 소개 했다. "연습생 때부터 SM콘서트 무대에 오르고 싶었죠. SM식구만 설 수 있어 분위기가 따뜻해 보였어요."(조이) 레드벨벳은 한 목소리로 SM루키즈가 가족같고, 마음속으로 열렬히 응원하고 있다고 했다. 
On the 15th of the previous month, Red Velvet stood on stage at 'SMTown Live World Tour Concert' with SM sunbaes. On this day, Red Velvet performed 'Happiness' and introduce SM Rookies who are set to debut soon. "I have wanted to perform at SM concert ever since I was a trainee. Only SM family could stand on the stage, the atmosphere looked warm." (Joy) Red Velvet all agreed that SM Rookies are like their family, and that they are supporting them in their hearts.

갑자기 등장한 듯 보이지만 레드벨벳은 1년 반째 합숙생활을 하고 있다. 24시간을 함께하는 것이다. 그만큼 서로에 대한 느낌도 남달랐다. "웬디는 배려심이 너무 많아 걱정이에요."(아이린) 팀의 분위기 메이커이자 엄마 역할을 하는 웬디는 오랫동안 부모님과 떨어져 지내 가족에 대한 애정이 남보다 강하다고 말했다.
Although it looked like they appeared all of the sudden, Red Velvet has been living together for a year and a half. They spend 24 hours together. Their feelings for each other are different. "Wendy is so caring, it's worrying." (Irene) Wendy, who takes on the role of the team's atmosphere maker as well as mother, lived apart from her parents for a long time. They said that she has a stronger affection for family as compared to other.
슬기는 힘들어도 얼굴에 티가 나지 않는 속이 단단하고 착실한 '우등생'이었다. "슬기는 허당끼가 있지만 맡은 임무를 잘 완수하죠."(웬디) 끼가 많은 조이는 집에선 장녀지만 팀에서는 막내다. 귀여운 외모로 사랑받지만 의젓하게 멤버들을 챙겼다. 아이린은 한마디로 '반전 매력'의 소유자였다. "아이린은 언니 같다가도 장난을 엄청 많이 해요. 따뜻한 말을 자주 해주죠."(웬디) 
Even when she's tired, Seulgi doesn't show it on her face, she is strong on the inside, definitely a 'excellent student'. "Although Seulgi is clumsy, she fulfills her missions well." (Wendy) Although talented Joy is the oldest in her family, she's the maknae of the team. Though she's receiving love for for cute appearance, she takes care of the members. Irene describe her as having 'reversal charms'. "Irene is like an unnie but she also does many pranks. She gives warm words often." (Wendy)

아이린은 팀의 리더다. 나머지 멤버들을 묵묵하지만, 살뜰히 챙기는 듯했다. 그 방법은 '5분 토크'에 있었다. "멤버들과 대화를 많이 하려고 해요. 같이 살며 1주일에 한 번씩 5분 정도 이야기를 하기 시작했어요."(아이린) 레드벨벳은 이제는 '5분 토크'를 시작하면 2시간 동안 쉼없이 대화한다고 했다. 감정을 주고받으며 오해를 풀기도 하고 미래를 다져가는 시간인 것이다. 멤버들은 아이린에게 고맙다고 입을 모았다.
Irene is the team's leader. The rest of the members said that though she is quiet, she takes care of the members. The method to that is '5 minute talk'. "I talk to the members a lot. Living together, we started holding 5 minute talks once a week." (Irene) Red Velvet said that once they start the '5 minute talk' they talk for 2 hours without rest. While exchanging emotions, they clear misunderstandings. The members all thanked Irene.
1년 반 동안 살을 맞대고 지내온 레드벨벳은 각자 달랐던 음악 성향도 비슷해져 갔다. "예전에는 좋아하는 음악 장르가 달랐지만, 점점 닮아가는 것 같아요. 앞으로 활동할 때도 장르를 가리지 않고 했으면 해요."(조이)
After living for 1 and a half years together, Red Velvet's difference in music preference has now became similar. "Although we like different music genres in the past, I think we've become similar now. Would be great if we don't pick genres in the future when promoting." (Joy)
말 한마디, 단어 하나에도 배려하며 서로를 격려해주는 레드벨벳은 첫인사처럼 마지막에도 방긋 웃었다.
Taking care and encouraging each other with just one word or one sentence, just like when they first greeted, Red Velvet smiled widely at the end too.
